Before Your Seder:

1. Prepare a set of sealed envelopes with creative challenges inside (see below for ideas)
2. These should be riddles that must be solved in order to find the next clue.
3. Each clue can be written in the same style, or a different style (example: haiku, rhyme, rebus puzzle, etc.)
4. Examples include: "Where water flows freely, but books must stay dry" (bathroom), "Four legs standing still, while people come and go" (dining table), "The coolest spot in the house when summer is hot" (refrigerator)
5. Hide the envelopes around your house, ensuring the last clue points to the afikomen, and keeping the very first clue at your seder table

During Your Seder:

1. Divide guests into teams of 2-3 people
2. Break the middle matzah as usual
3. Direct your participants to close their eyes, and hide the afikomen in the place where the last clue will direct your participants
4. Hand the participants the first clue

Variation 1: Charades Challenge

• Split the group into teams, and once a team finds the afikomen, they must take a challenge envelope
• Inside the challenge envelopes are Passover-themed charade prompts. One member of the team must act out the prompt for the rest of their team members. They get one minute.
• Sample Prompts: "Crossing the Red Sea," "The Ten Plagues," "Searching for Chametz"
• If their team guesses the prompt correctly within one minute, they get a one-minute head start to find the clue before the rest of the teams. If they don't, then all teams move on to find the next clue.

Variation 2: Afikomen Ransom

• The finder doesn't just get a prize – they get to "ransom" the afikomen
• Other participants must complete a fun challenge chosen by the finder:
• Tell a short Passover-themed joke or riddle
• Recite the Four Questions backward
• Create and perform a short Passover-themed song or poem
• Do a dramatic reading from the Haggadah in a funny accent
• The winner of the fun challenge (selected by the finder), gets a secondary prize provided by the host
